New York International Children's Film Festival proudly introduces the third annual NYICFF Film Production Workshops! Children will have a chance to be on the other side of the camera, learn from experts, and make their visions come to life on the big screen! Don't just come and watch the films in this year's festival, make one!

  • When:
    • Final Film: Will be screened at the 2010 New York International Children's Film Festival
  • Session 2: March 29 to April 2
    • Final Film: Will be screened on-line at gkids.com and eligible for inclusion in NYICFF 2011
  • Session 3: June 14 to June 18
    • Final Film: Will be screened on-line at gkids.com and eligible for inclusion in NYICFF 2011
  • Where: Scholastic Inc, 557 Broadway (between Prince and Spring)
  • Daily Hours: 10am to 4pm (9am-5pm extended supervision provided for additional fee)



  • Using wire armature, clay, and fabric, kids will learn how to form their own character. From there, they will then learn the process of giving life to these characters by making them speak and move. Workshop will culminate in a completed short film.

    Using hand drawn, pixilation & cut out animation, children will work with professional filmmakers to produce their own short film. They will be guided through the fabrication, animation and post-production process and the workshop will culminate in a completed short film.

    Two scholarship spots per workshop are available based on financial need and teacher recommendation. Due dates and application forms are listed below:

    • Session 2: March 8th, 2010 | Apply
    • Session 3: May 24th, 2010 | Apply

    Additional Information

    • The first 13 registrants for each workshop will be accepted.
    • 2 additional students per workshop will be selected from scholarship applicants.
    • Please make sure children wear clothing that can get messy.
    • Lunch is not included; please bring a lunch.

    Cancellation Policy:

    There will be no refunds for cancellation.

    There will be no credits or make-up dates for missed classes.
